Overview

BASIC respects your privacy. We collect only the information we need to run our programs and to stay in touch with the students, families, volunteers and donors who make our work possible, and we treat that information with care.

Information we collect

Most of the information we hold is information you choose to give us: your name and contact details when you volunteer, sign up for updates, apply for a scholarship or program, make a donation, or write to us.

Like every website, this site also receives basic technical information when you visit, such as the type of browser you use and the pages you view.

BASIC doesn’t use advertising or analytics trackers on this site, so the site works the same whether or not your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal.

How we use it

We use your information to run our programs, respond to your questions and requests, process donations, and keep you informed about BASIC.

We do not sell personal information.

Sharing

We share information with the services that help us operate, such as the companies that process donations and send our email, and only so they can do that work for us. We also share information when the law requires it.

Children and families

BASIC’s programs serve children from preschool onward. Information about a child comes to us from a parent or guardian, and we handle it with the same care described on this page. Parents and guardians are welcome to ask us what we hold about their child.

Photos and stories

Photos and stories of our students and families are an important part of telling BASIC’s story. We use them with permission. If you would like a photo or story removed, let us know.

Other websites

This site links to other websites, including the services we use to accept donations. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.
